SIKE!
Ok, So THIS is my last post of 2009. haha. Jokes on you. Anyway, Christmas was great, and I got a lot of sweet stuff. A new jacket, gloves, house shoes, sweaters, and of course sweet shirts from Allison. I got back to Athens on Dec. 26th and picked Allison up from a bowl game trip and she stayed over...IT WAS FANTASTIC. We spent 24 hours together before she left for California. It has been a very long week and I miss her very much, but I am glad she is having tons of fun in the sun. I will be picking her up sunday evening from the football stadium and we will be going to set up her room. I CANNOT WAIT. So here is to a Happy and Successful New Year.

December 22
I only have 3 more days until I get to see Allison, and I think that is very cool. I went and saw my cousin Chuck in Atkins, AR. He was doing well, and I am happy to know that he will remember that visit. Other than that I have just been practicing and sitting around the house...boring. Signing off until there is more to report.

5 days left!
Ok, so here is the low down. I drove away from Allison on November 30th, and I get to see her on the 26th...maybe i need to repeat myself. I get to see her on the 26th! How COOL is that? Nice HUH? I certainly think so. So yeah, I am just sitting at home and counting down the days while sitting by a roaring fire. Nothing much else to report other than just keeping to myself and practicing and...stuff. Later

Catchup
Here is the long awaited catch up post. Included below will be the abridged version of the past year...hang onto your butts.
Last year finished good. I have made all A's and a few A-'s on my grade report since beginning my graduate studies at Ohio U. I also had the pleasure of meeting a very pretty girl. We started dating on July 25th.
This is ALLISON HOPKINS.

This is her instrument of choice...and a very good one I might add.

She plays the Bassoon VERY VERY well, and LOVES to paint. She is getting a double Bachelor of Arts in Music and Art, and will be going to grad school for a Master degree in Arts Management. I think that is super cool.
Those are the few things you should k
now about her, other than the fact that she is AWESOME. for my birthday and Christmas this year we were not going to get to see each other, so she decided to surprise me and took me to the TOP FIVE STAR restaurant in Cleveland Pier W. Here is the website if you want to check it out:
http://www.selectrestaurants.com/pier/index.php
After that she took me to see the Cleveland Orchestra play Dvorak's "New World" Symphony in Severance Hall...IT WAS AMAZING. Later she told me she had this planned since August or September...CRAZY.
After saying all of this, I bet you guys are wondering if I love her. I can say, "YES I DO."
On a side note I got a new horn! It is a Paxman 23L, and it is freaking amazing. Here is a picture of it.

Other than ALL of that I made Principal Horn in the Symphony Orchestra and Co. Principal of the Wind Ensemble.
Until next time,

Today....is what I did.
Hello,
Today I went to Alexander, AR outside of Little Rock to burn some leaves and clean up a trailer home with my dad. We also went to Burlington coat factory and I bought a sweet coat (I will show pictures later). I had NO idea that they sold shoes, pants, shirts and other stuff at Burlington COAT FACTORY...Its a COAT FACTORY. Don't put that in the name unless that is all you are going to sell. I mean, it was like any other store such as the following: Belk, TJMAXXX, Dillards, or JC PENNY, but the only difference is that it had more coats than the rest. I expected to see RACKS upon RACKS of coat, a SEA of coat, enough coat to fill the Great Pyramid...You get the picture.
CALM-D
ANYWAY, all of that aside I got a SWEET coat, and its uber warm.
Sean and I were called upon to make punch for our boy Aaron O'Rand's bachelor party that is tomorrow night, so we bought everything to make it; it is now sitting on my back deck marinating in 30 degree weather...it promises to be good.
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!! I promise to have pictures soon

Don't hate me...
Hello,

I know it has been weeks since I posted. I could say I was taking time to adjust to the Grad School life and a new state, but I am not going to use that as a fall back. I have been busy though. I practice every day...well, almost everyday. In the past four weeks I have only missed practicing once day. So as promised I am going to show you guys some pictures! :)
This first set is of my room. Warning: If it looks small, its because it is.

There is my room...told you it was small.
Ok, now it is time for my office! Just for reference we have one of the biggest offices on the sixth floor. I share it with a second year Grad Trumpet Performance major who goes by the name Matt Hansen. We get along great. Her is our office.
Here is my side of the office:

Here is Matt's Side:

And a view from our office window that i took an hour ago...yes that is real snow!
Matt and Chuck had a recital on Sunday. Chuck is a second year Trombone Performance/Pedagogy major. Here was the A+ verdict from their Recital I hung on our office Fridge.

And the best part of the recital was getting the leftovers....Kenny and I decided to destroy the cake last night while waiting on Matt for dinner. The cake was accompanied by listening to Katt Williams...Hilarious.

I am enjoying it here in Athens, and on Saturday the Horn Studio is going to Cincinnati to watch the Principal horn play Mozart 4 with the orchestra. JOY!
I will keep in touch.

Aftermath
hello again!
So, here is the shakedown from today....every thing got done EXCEPT for registering for classes, obtaining a parking permit, and finding out something about my loan moneys.
Here is my schedule of events tomorrow.
8am go get my parking permit and park my car!
register for classes at the school of music.
go to classes if i have any before noon.
if I don't have any classes before the noon hour I will find the loan people and make heads roll! (or at least that is how I envision it :) )
I will have horn studio class at 1 or 2 i think AND Wind Ensemble at 3, but I will have my schedule by then no problem. :)
Back to today...I bombed my placement exams, and will have to take extra courses, but thats ok because it will help me in the end right? I didn't like my audition AT ALL, but take into consideration that I just got through teaching public school music for the past 5 months and it makes me feel a little better. I have to not worry about that because playing my horn is all I will be doing for the next two years...period. haha
On a lighter note I fully moved into my office. :) Don't worry I will get pictures up here some day!
Goodnight!

Judgement Day?
Judgement Day?...Ok, maybe not quite, but you would be thinking the same thing to if you had to do what I have to do tomorrow. (Some of you may have before) I don't have a parking permit for campus and apparently the campus cops are atrocious about giving tickets...much worse than anything seen at HSU. I have been safe these past couple of days because it is the weekend, but the thing about that is the parking permit place is closed until tomorrow. I may not even get a permit close to my dorm or the school of music. Luck of the draw I guess. Now before you ask, "What about visitor parking?" they don't have any. I already asked the dark haired Psychology major with the nose ring at the information desk in Baker University Center.
So, that will be #1 on my TO DO list tomorrow.
1) Somehow find a parking permit.
Now, once that is done I need to get a student ID. This is taken on the 1st floor of Baker University Center. But I have to keep in mind that I have my theory placement exam at 10 am and my audition for the Wind Ensemble/Orchestra is at...1:15ish. If I can get it done before 10 am I will.
After all of those things are done I still need to keep in mind that I have to pick up my GA office key tomorrow and take my Music History exam tomorrow. (I need to take both exams tomorrow before I register for classes. I will already be missing the first day. YIKES!)
Other things to be noted:
I have to turn in the I-9 form to the Office of Graduate Studies.
Get books for classes after registration.
Check on my loans.
Move into my office.
Turn in my in school loan Deferment form for HSU.
If you think this seems like a lot of stuff....it is, but most of it is turn this in, do that, jump through this hoop. By finally graduating with my BME from HSU, I realized that I am a pretty good show dog. Well I guess that is all. I hope you have enjoyed this because I sure have :). Have no fear you will be hearing how this goes tomorrow.
Goodnight!

Athens, OH
Hello All!
I had an 8 hour drive today from Bridgewater, NJ to Athens, OH...I only stopped once. Yes, once. (to get gas) The only other time I stopped before I got to Athens was because of a wreck on Highway 50 in the mountains of West Virginia. Have no fear I was not in it because I am writing this to you right now! haha.
Have a good night and a safe weekend!
Buck
